You know, the steroids are a REALLY necessary evil, in order to preclude swelling of the cord. I'm so happy for you. You deserve a pat on the back for quick reactions.
Thanks guys. A chi on steroids IS a pretty scary thing . I know the steroids are necessary; I just don't want him on them for a prolonged period, so I hope all continues to go well.
On the way to pick up Frankenwidge in a few minutes. Boy am I glad to have it over! Flowers were delivered to my office, and I got all excited for a minute, but no...they were for Wiget !
do you ever get the feeling that "someone" is watching over you....???? i do..
wipe the sweat off the brow. i was more concerned about the anesthesia than i was the sx, esp with such a little one. i'm so happy for you, jenni! yea!!!
Thanks Ann. I just picked him up, and wow-what an incision. 19 stitches! He's on morphine, so he's really quiet, but he's not shaking in pain anymore . I was worried about the anesthesia w/his size and epilepsy, but this place was SO on top of everything. I see such a huge difference between this surgical referral center and just a vet that performs surgery. I wish I could bring all my animals here for everything.

Whew! Yes, it's anesthesia that always scares me, too.
When my Luna was on post-surgical morphine she wanted to be on the bed (my bed), and I would've let her in those circumstances, but then she almost walked off the edge from the drugs........I had to make her a soft bed with a low living room chair surrounded by sofa cushions. (Well, OK, I didn't technically HAVE to......) She curled up there in the middle of everything -- and and was so happy to be back home.
What a relief, huh?
