I think that you should have started a new post. but anyways.. I recommend getting a few DVDs and build the correct foundation for any direction you choose in the future.
Basic Dog Obedience
Drive Focus and Grip.
Preparing for the Helper
John,
Thanks for the input,I have two of Ed's DVD's but I like the input from this board.Don't get me wrong the DVD's are informative but the experiences of other dog owners and trainers on this site keeps me coming back. And yes you're right I should have started a new post, but I seem to be having trouble doing that(not very computer savvy)
Hello group,
I am learning so much now about bite training. I am now working with a trainer and they say that my dog is very smart and is learning fast protection work. She is only 8 months old and has a way to go but I wish I would have knew a few months ago how to go about bite work before I listened to my neighbor telling me to dress up and scare my dog. I agree it was wrong now before I thought it would help her to be dominate. I am doing tug and rag work with her, she has a very strong bite. My trainer is doing all the rest and I see a difference in her confidence and she has even stopped the submissive wetting. She is no longer scared of people at the park she still does not like other dogs though. I just wanted to update the info on her. thanks for the prior postings on bite work. I know I will have more questions later on I am new to dogs this is my first dog as an adult.

Heather, I applaud someone who will listen and learn -- who can back up, acknowledge a mistake, and start over. Good job! <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I personally have a little defensiveness when I screw up and have to admit I was an idiot, and I admire that very mature quality.
