I want to thank everyone for helping me out these last couple of days. I received excellent advice. The best news is that, according to people much more knowledgeable than myself, things will be just fine with my pup when I get back assuming I reestablish my "leadership." It is good news that taking off for months at a time does not negatively affect the confidence / loyalty as much as I thought it might. With the nature of my job, it will undoubtable happen again.
As for the debate about this site and dogproblems.com and sitstayfetch, people are right noticing that one has to pay before receiving advice, whereas here people are kind enough to talk freely and openly. My gut feeling tells me that this is the right place to be for dog advice.
I have already bought the puppy and obedience dvd's and they should be arriving at my house in Arizona this upcomming week. In addition, I bought the obedience dvd for my friend in Miami who also recently adopted a dog for christmas, even though I have yet to see it myself.
So, being my first post ever on this or any forum, I am grateful for the overwhelming kindness shown by folks on these posts to a stranger such as myself.
The one last request, if I am lucky enough, is to get Mr. Ed's opinion concerning my original post, as well as his assessment on the other dog sites mentioned above.
Can't wait to be home again and eat, drink and be merry! Ciao.
I am closing this thread. The two web sites discussed on this thread are not giscussed on this web site. They are both scam artists or con artists. Mt Katz has moved out of the country and last I heard lives in Costa Rica. The others are a group of scam artists from New Zealand.
They sell $50.00 E-Books filled with 25 year old material. This is my opinion - feel free to spend the $50.00 and find out for yourself should the need ariise. the problem with an e-book is you can't even use it as Toilette Paper when you find out how useless it is.
