Howard, your dog looks just like mine but with short hair. It seems like everyone on this board has mastered the Photobucket thing but me ! I'm going to ask my teenager for help so I can post a pic on this thread. Wish me luck .
As usual, Once I have the dog the previous owners are slow to help me out any further. I'm kinda harrassing the guy for the pedigree just so I can research his background. The dog was bred locally from what I hear and I have a suspicion that he is part european working lines and showlines.
I havent got a good standing shot yet but his back line has zero slope. He's almost as big as my Czech dog and will likely be the same size in 8-12 months when he is more mature.
Being as he will hopefully work out as a PPD, I'm waiting for my Drive, grip and focus DVD to arrive today so I can get started the right way. My initial evaluation is that he will need Bernard's touch to bring him up to whare he needs to be.
Well, Howard, at least there's a chance you'll get it though, right? It's fun for curiousity satisfaction; we all know that what's on paper doesn't always match what's in front of you, lol.
Whatever mix he ends up being, he's quite striking, and has great color and a really nice-looking profile. Enjoy him. I think it's better to be pleasantly surprised by a rescue than horribly disappointed by a $2000 "working" puppy!
I think your suspicion is most like right , showline and working line.More dogs are that these days too. I hear some people saying they have "pure" working lines and when you look at the pedigree.....I'll look and say" oh I don't recall Ursus being a working dog"..
And then they look at their pedigree and say nothing. Not that that is even a bad thing at all. Some dogs are awesome with a mix of lines .Nothing wrong with that.
Awww, thanks Jenni you're a sweetie but I roped my son into helping me! Thank you for the offer though! Here are a few pics. The last pic is a good shot of his back. I'd love to here what you guys would say if you saw him on the street - American or German, workingline or showline?
