From what I remember about choke chains (I don't use them anymore), the usual recommendation is 2-3 inches more than the dog's neck size. I imagine it's the same for the fur saver collar. It's supposed to slide snugly (not tight) over the dog's head.
I found a website that said how to find the correct fit and since my pup is only a year and may continue to grow a bit I went for the 20". Took me a while to find a website that sold the 4mm short link ans still had them in stock. Yesterday I got the Sprenger SS Prong for her (it was a b-day present for her plus a new crate since she ate the old one) I am totally amazed at the quality of these products. Thanks again.
