I am sure you guys remember earlier this year when Diamond Dog Food put moldy corn in their dog food and several dogs died or got really sick.
I started my RAW diet about two weeks ago and was a little worried, even though I researched and read about it. This was not the first time I have thought about feeding RAW. About four years age, I was going to do the same thing, but a co-worker who was the head K9 officer at my police department, discouraged me from doing it. Needless to say, I have been very pleased with my results in just two weeks.
Thank you Connie for all of your expertise and information about the subject.
This is just my own opinion.
Vetrinarians are "trained" to sell the food that is at their clinic, because these companies want to make a profit and the clinic gets a portion of the profit made. Vets will push on you Science Diet, Hill, etc. These foods say they have all the nutritional needs for your dog/cat, when in reality they contain some ingredients that aren't in Nutro or any other 'natural' food. I am currently trying to switch over to the Raw diet.
The animal shelter here-where I got my cat-gave me a certificate for a free 5lb. bag of Nutro cat/kitten food. The first time I'd ever heard of this food was when we picked up our GSD pup and the breeder said they've been feeding their dogs this for a loong time.
