I can understand why you would be skeptical because you haven't seen it being done. Yes, I'm not kidding that is what they did. If you dig up more history on cane corso, they menitioned about it many times. They even pained a picture of corso taking a bull down. I have a book called IL Cane Corso wrote by Fernando Casolino and Stefano Gandolfi. They were written in Italian, but I have a manuel that was translated to English from Italian. I'm more than happy to cite it.
All I'm saying is if you want a proof, then you will get it. No questions asked. It will take me a while to dig the information and scan it to the computer. (Too much work, but thats fine.)
In the IL Cane Corso book, they even painted or drew a corso taking down the bull. The best place to get a reliable source is from the SACC or AICC. You may want to buy these books, but some might be written in Italian.
Yeah, it is really complex because you will find many people in the CC community disagree about many things. It seems to me that they don't really get along very well so they started their own breed club. Yep, it's sad.
In Italy, there are three different Cane Corso Clubs (SACC, CIO, and AICC) that don't agree with each other, they kept agruing over who is right. They all breed for different reason and make corso look slightly different. SACC prefers to change the head of corso to make it look more of "boxery" type. AICC tends to breed the classic look with a bit longer muzzle. CIO prefers the napeotlian mastiff look, more wrinkes and a bit bigger in size.
Thank you for the links Lindsay. You seem to know quite a bit about the Canes. I am a huge Molosser fan. Ever since I was a little kid, they drew my attention more than others. I am fluent in Spanish, which makes Italian easier to navigate. I'll check those links out. Thanks.
I will not say it is easy for ME to train one in protection, just that im glad to have found someone that it is easy for. My guy is well on his way to great things.
I will be looking as long as it takes to find a female and get her SChH II before the breeding program even gets close to a reality. But as some have stated I will do everything in my power to bring them back to what they were and help them excell in sport. I like all dogs but I love my Corso, and want everyone that is responsible and decides they want one to get the chance to get a true Corso. Im in my late 20's I have time on my side. ;-)
