Where I live it is the humidity not the heat that gets both man and beast.
We were over at the farm where we do sheep herding training and a Aussie Shepherd with his fluffy coat had konked out due to heat exhaustion. They did first aid on him by plopping him into a kiddy pool and he was fine after that, pretty scary though. One minute he was fine the next he was down, with no real warning. Just goes to show you how quick something like that can happen.
You really have to be in tune with your dog if you are going to run or work your dog in the heat.
When it is hot I try to keep things short we go for walks and short tracks in the Maple bush where there is lots of shade and do our sheep herding early as possible. We always have the old trusted frisbee to wear my dog out quick.
Although my dog and I really LOVE training in the winter, I can admit that a week somewhere hot by the end of February would be VERY nice. Vagas, Hawaii, I am not picky....I love the heat personally, don't like it much for dog training, but it is great for swimming and sipping ice cold alcolholic bevies, pool, lake or ocean side
Well I feel ya, last night me & hubby very late ,sat outside and had an iced Sangria (it was good) ,we watched the dogs swimm, the kids were in bed...it was peaceful..

Well, when you're done with that, Angelique, how about deleting some of your PMs, because your in-box is full.
