The GSD with the little girl is named Apollo, and yes he is a very handsome boy. Very devoted to his family as well as being titled in Schutzhund and currently being worked in K-9 ProSports.
Wayne is his owner and the little girl is Wayne's daughter. We had a photo shoot with her and her brother, but he didn't want to have his picture done that day.
The IronDog photos are a link that you can get to by clicking the photo at the top of the column.
Wow, I can't believe all of the great support we got for this event and all of the people that showed up for the affiliation trial!! Without this web forum and all of the people that viewed it and came, it would not have been as good of a turnout for sure.
We made the grade as a Full Member USA Club!
I have followed Schutzhund for several years but only recently did things in my life open up for me to get a dog and jump in. I think it is a GREAT sport. Meeting Bernhard Flinks and Claudia Romard fueled my desire to do it even more as they are both incredible and very passionate about what they do. I was lucky to see them both early on and a "Big Thanks" to Mike Rivers and Betty Mathena for having those seminars.
I was also lucky enough to meet Will Rambeau and learn a lot just by talking to him. Meeting people like Will that wanted to help me made things much more enjoyable. Like Will said to me, "For me, It is all about giving back to the sport. I will help you learn and show you the sport. In turn, you do the same and pass it on." This is the only way that the sport will grow, bring someone out and expose them to it.
Sandy, I am the short guy of the 2 of us, I am 5'9" and Jason McNew is like 6'3", so of course I look even shorter! I did the front half and Jason did the back half. I am glad you like my scratch pants though, I really like them too as I had the pleasure of being bitten ABOVE them on Friday and I deserved it for not being careful. -I wouldn't change a thing
I always just wear a leather apron since it is so hot here during the summer. You fry when you wear your full gear/scratch pants. It is a risk, but I left the jacket in the car. I had that minor incident during training, not the trial.
It actually felt nice having a trial in the LOWER 90's. I think we felt grateful it was not hotter as it has been brutal this year on the dogs. -And Us.
I just recently found a wonderful PPD/SchH trainer here (from Austria) and I have to say, she definitely rocks! I thought I was going to have to move to Florida before I found her!
