I agree Jenni about the impact on breeds. I just took it as a joke, as this is a dog board and I am sure she was thinking that since we all are dog people that we would "see through" the statement.
Maybe not the best comment, but we all are here to learn.....

Yes, WE took it as a joke, but look at the sheer number of unregistered lurkers who read these posts. There are enough idiots out there that it's not exactly inconceiveable that they'd take it at face value...and poor Pit Bulls have it hard enough without people speaking/joking matter-of-factly about them eating children, or chewing on them, or whatever. I just like to be extra careful, especially in print, when things are so often misunderstood. The internet can be a bit like a game of telephone.

Well, back on topic. If you want a fairly non-allergenic dog, that doesn't shed, is medium-large sized, and intellegent, I'd go with a Standard Poodle. The middle sized poodle is smaller than the Standard, but bigger thant the Toy, about the size of a springer spaniel. You can learn to do your own grooming and keep the dog in a puppy/kennel cut at all times. I don't see why someone would want an anything-doodle when they can just get a plain old poodle. (My personal opinion)
However, ALL dogs require training. If you aren't going to take the time to train the dog, you probably shouldn't get another one. If you are going to get a dog of your own, please get some of Ed's dvds and such so that your dog will be trained, and will know it's place.
You don't want to have to "get rid of" another dog because you didn't give it the proper training.

That made me giggle. There is such a stigma against the standard poodle, mostly because of fru-fru conformation hair cuts. The poodle WOULD be great for running, ob, and frisbee!
If you just can't face their looks, some other breeds that come to mind would be Schnauzer (standard) or maybe something like an Italian greyhound?

Good for you Keith!!
Arrrrghhh!! Anyone, who breeds or sells doodles, diddles, fiddles or faddles, needs to seriously think about what they are doing and apologize to all the breeds they are destroying. My sister wanted to get a "schnoodle", until I showed her how wrong it was and how many fad breeds are actually suffering from un-predictable characteristics, skeletal problems, too many teeth for their mouth, the list goes on and on....I told her mixed breeds can be healthier, but please do us all a favor and adopt a mutt from the shelter. Thank God she understood.

For anyone interested (Alex? ), I will be selling Sheppits as soon as my 8wk old unregistered, byb APBT puppy is old enough to breed to one of my GSDs. Seeing as this is a previously unheard of breed, I will be taking early deposits for those who want to be a part of history in the making. $1000 will hold your place in line, and the remaining $1500 is payable as soon as I have confirmed pregnancy. Hurry, and send money now. Why go to the pound for a nice mutt when you can spend a small fortune for a world class Sheppit?

Sorry Jenni, as much as I like you, I still wouldn't buy a Sheppit. Now, if you manage to breed one of your Shepherds with your Chihuahua...then shoot! I'd be more interested in a Shephuahua, but first you'd have to tell me how you managed to do that.
