Thanks for all the replies, we are going to work solo for right now and I did find a group setting which sounds like it could be good. I spoke to the trainer and he said you can't fix the socialization without seeing and dealing with the problem and that your not the only one with this problem. He also said there are more then one trainer at the sessions and if we feel you need selected help you can break off from the group and work. We have made progress and Zeus dog sggresion is only when introduced to dogs or in close quarters. Out in public walking I can get him to ignore most things around him even dogs. I do have a few other questions. What is the best way to correct the dog off leash (like in the house) The trainer had us poking him in the side, just wondering if this is correct or if there is something better. I saw the dominant dog collar at what point would you use that instead of the prong? Thanks again

I would have him wear his leash and prong in the house until you are sure he listens and responds to you well.
I would not poke the dog......IMO, poking a dog is a recipe for them turning and snapping at or biting you.
I think there is a article about the dominant dog collar, I will have to try and find it.....
Until The Tale of the Lioness is told, the Story will Always Glorfy the Hunter
FWIW, my Rottie was very aggressive to other dogs. This was first demonstrated in the OB class. He would wait until a dog got close and then strike.
The trainer had me use a choke collar on the dog, as a prong collar only seemed to fire him up more. The trainer instructed me that when the dog lunges at another dog pull the leash straight up lifting the dog off of the ground. "Up like a rocket, down like a parachute."
I did that about 5 or 6 times and it did wonders for the dogs aggression problem.
Always looking for training avenues close to home. Any suggestions?
