Pup is home. Mind you this is a virus that causes the lining of the intestines to slough off. Massive bleeding in BMs, vomiting of upper GI intestinal lining. Extreme lethargy.
I uncrate him. He is prancing around like crazy. Brings me a stick. I get him inside and he's rolling on the floor, attacking my arm, wanting his belly rubbed.
Yesterday he was quite listless and I was just glad to see him wag his tail a bit. Today he's jumping and knawing. Saw his food bowl and went wild, though I'm not feeding until tomorrow.

Blood values? Iron a little low. Albumin at 1.8 rather than 2.0
Came home, peed and pooped. A little runny? Sure. No blood, and let's face it, he's eaten little and been on an IV for 24 hours.
In hospital for total of 28 hours. He's basically 95% as energetic as usual.
Funny, I heard him rustling around in his crate on the way home. Turns out he was biting off the gigantic bandaid they put on his arm... Maybe his way of saying "screw this place"

Well ... plus, those gigantic bandaids are known to be delicious.

Great news! Just so you know, my vaccinated cheap kibble fed puppy who survived parvo fought it for a week. And it was not easy. Once we thought we were going to lose her, convulsions and everything. It amazes me how fast your pup recovered!
The pup is incredibly full of energy. I'm really shocked. And hungry as heck. He'll have to wait til AM, though.
Interesting, the vet also counciled me yesterday on putting him down. "A lot of people do, since the mortality rate is so high even while treating symptoms."

In between lecturing you on the evils of fresh food?

Back in the early 80s I had a GSD pup die from Parvo shortly after I got him. Very very ugly. He died at the vets within 24hrs, he never really had a chance.
