Yes, Kori, it's an iguana. There was a lot of daylight at the time, and the pic doesn't look so good. I recently posted a video of him chasing one.
He caught his first one a week ago, and I have it on video as well. But the result wasn't pretty, so I don't think I'll be posting that one anytime soon

"Them"??? As in, those things are just running amok in Puerto Rico??? Jeez - I thought that iguana was a PET! (If it was, then shame on you for letting the dog bury it.) Yikes - no offense, but I'm glad there are no free-roaming iguanas here in Kansas! LOL!
Yes, they are a dime a dozen. In fact, the other day I was at the park and this guy comes along with an attitude and insulted me for letting my dog kill them. At that time, he hadn't killed any, he was just doing what you see him doing in the video, circling them and howling.
So I did what I always do when strangers come to me and tell me anything related to my dog: not say a word. I find this better than getting in an argument with them, and IMO pisses them more. They kind of expect you to argue with them.
Anyway, this pissed him off and he went to the park police to report me. I saw him talking to them, and after a while the man approaches me and says "excuse me, may I have a word with you". I said yes with my head (still not talking) and he said he wanted to apologize for his behavior. He said the police told him the iguanas were considered a plague (or pest) by the Government, and that I could do anything I wanted with them. In fact, I was recently told people are starting to eat them and that they taste like chicken, lol. No joke.
My main concern is that the park where the iguanas are located is next to the Supreme Court building. You can see how close here . A couple of workers have told me the judges consider them to be the Court's pets. If one of them catches me I could be disbarred!
All joking aside, he has only killed one. When he manages to catch one I go to the scene and take him away from the iguana. First because I'm not such a big fan of killing helpless animals (even though those SOB's can defend themselves with their tail). Second because if he kills them all, there won't be any for him to chase.
Wow - cool picture. It's cool that this board has so many people from so many places on it. I can't imagine seeing iguanas just in everyday outings. Around here, you only see them if someone has one as a pet, and even then, it's not that common.
I like the way you handled the guy who approached you in the park, BTW. People just have to stick their noses in, for some reason. I'm glad the police backed you up, and at least the guy apologized. Maybe there's hope for the human race after all (although usually I prefer dogs). LOL!
