If you do xrays, sometimes you can see the pano. I had a female once that had severe pano that was plainly obvious on the xray, yet the 2 I kept back out of my last litter didn't show up on xray like that.
Angela - yes that's true but even if there is visible pano on the X-Rays is there anything that can be done about it? My last dog would simply lay around acting depressed for about 2 weeks at a time and then he would be back to normal. After he turned 2 the symptoms completely disappeared and never came back. I would need a really good reason before I would sedate him for X-Rays.
Thanks again for your input.

My vet does xrays without sedation. But realistically the only thing you can do is wait. You can give deramaxx, metacam or aspirin to help ease the discomfort, but you're just going to have to wait it out unfortunately.
Angela - yes I agree, I think waiting is all that can be done right now. If there was some action that could be taken based on X-Ray results then I might go ahead with it (my pup is very squirmy and would probably need sedation).
Even if HD was diagnosed I think would wait and see how he does with no treatment. My parents had an HD dog that lived a completely normal life with no treatment at all.
