Elias is so beautiful, Alex!!! A big happy congratulations to you and your wife. I'm so happy for you both. He's so precious. You guys did what my husband and I did, giving our son his dad's first name as his middle name. Awesome
I have such wonderful beautiful memories of that time in my life. And it made my husband just gush with love for our baby. It was all so great. It's also great knowing that it happens for others too . The best time of your life, and it will keep getting better as that little angel grows.
Thanks so much for sharing your joy with us WOOHOO! Give Elias a kiss for me (maybe he'll adopt me as his grandma).

Yep. I would say so. He is already thinking MALINOIS, I can tell.
AND he will have the same perma-grin when he starts catching dogs too.....

Alex
Congratulations!!!!
He is a very handsome little man!
How is his mom doing?
As soon as you can get him on a schedule...feed, play, sleep, in that order, the easier it will be on parents and baby. Baby Wise by Ezzo and Buckman was an invaluable source of information for me. You will have baby sleeping through the night very soon using the method outlined in the book.
Baby Signs by Acredolo and Goodwyn is an excellent book to help you learn to pick up baby cues and to talk with your baby before he can talk.

Congrats Alex!
We had our first 4 months ago.
Be ready for a little chaos at first. After a short time you, mom, and baby will learn how to communicate. You'll be able to tell a "hungry cry" from a "tired cry", etc. Its pretty cool.
One day our baby was waking up every 2-3 hours at night to feed, and the next day he was sleeping all night. So don't fret over lost sleep, because it can get better at any time. Patience is all you have now.
Are you and your wife feeding a species appropriate diet? Just kidding!

Mom is doing well. Trying to get some rest when she can. Awesome info about the books! Thanks. I will definitely look into those.

Now that litterally made me LOL. And as a matter of fact she is!
Thanks for the tips Mike! Can't wait to be able to tell and communicate with him. Congrats on your baby as well! Exciting times.
Thank you all again for the compliments and wishes. This will be an awesome thread to show my boy when he can read!

Good! I only have 3 more tips, and then I am tapped out.
1.)Tell your wife everyday how thankful and appreciative you are that she is giving so much of herself to feed Elias. It'll be worth it.
2.)Get her a pump so YOU can give her a break a few times a day. Or at least sit up with her at night when she is feeding him.
3.)If you have relatives or friends nearby that want to keep him from time to time, DO NOT be shy about letting them keep him if they offer. Even for a 1/2 hour. Don't get me wrong, your baby is VERY VERY VERY important, but you and your wife's sanity is job #1. Babies can sense stress, IMO. If you and mom ain't happy, NOBODY will be happy.

Edit reason: I apologize if bringing up breast feeding is too personal. No offense intended.
