I don't know anything about Mr. Cusick and his recipes other than what I've just read on his site, including:
The German Shepherd Dog is unique because it has a very short colon in comparison to other breeds of the same body weight. For this reason a high fiber diet is required to slow the movement of food through this breed's digestive track, thereby allowing more time for the nutrients to be drawn out. This high fiber diet will result in a larger stool but better assimilation of the food. I caution that this fiber must be from the proper sources and the amount should be carefully controlled. Too much fiber or fiber of the wrong type can cause impacted bowels.
The environment for the Alsatian Region of Germany provided this breed with primary food sources of beef, wheat, and leafy greens like cabbage and alfalfa. Thus, I recommend a blend of these food sources as the ideal base diet for the German Shepherd.
Well, there's an approach I haven't heard before!
As a raw feeder for 8 yrs. or so, I feel more comfortable relying on the info and advice from the many knowledgeable members here than someone like Cusick. I think if you do a lot of reading at the link Connie posted, you might agree, too.

Definitely I'm using what's on that website with a grain of salt. Especially that about every breed on earth is covered in his researches, and it seems to me like a very tedious task.
It is not rocket science he is putting in there though, its mainly fresh veggies and meat cooked together. Definitely an improvement on the dog (like coat, energy, etc) over kibbles (yes, I have sinned)
My dog seems to get more satisfied with the recipe than with the premade raw food (the raw patties are wayyyy condensed, so less satisfying to eat for him I think).
I'll be looking to find grocery store where I could buy raw food not premade. Anyone in the Bay Area (SF) with recommendations?
Oh one more question, do you supplement your dog's food or you leave it to the ingredients?
thanks.

Connie, what are cheapo lamb flaps (or even just lamb flaps<g> ? ... leih
Beats me. Cheap, though.
I think that ribs are cut from the "flap" so I guess flaps are the belly trims from the end of the chop. They are very fatty (or at least they were when I bought a bag to freeze) but I tossed out a bunch of the hacked-off fat and gave the rest of the meat (still fatty) in small portioned-out bits, just (as I was saying) for another source of variety in protein profiles.
I check out anything on sale in the butcher case to round out the RMBs.

Wherever you buy food for yourself is a good start, and then you could be checking out butchers and other sources.
Fish oil (LB has a good pump bottle of Grizzly Salmon Oil) and vitamin E to protect the delicate fish oil PUFAs are good (IMO, crucial) for just about any dog's diet.

I supplement. Vitamin E, raw eggs and Salmon Oil.
In addition, I give whole milk yogurt with active cultures and veggie puree or "glop" in which I put some extra vitamin C powder. When I feed the raw eggs, my Presa eats the shell, my Rottie does not.

Thanks for adding yogurt. It's been awhile since Danke has had any, but coming out of her first heat, I should probably pick some up.

I'm lost now. Weren't we talking about a pre-made raw diet?

The cooked meat is coming from Mr. Cusick's recipe for GSDs that Mike linked to.

And wheat? And this "recipe" costs $30?!
Well, all I can think to say is "Holy crap."
I guess that I assumed that the O.P. referred to a pre-mix and a "recipe" for putting together one's own raw. Wrong.
