Shoot I bought some wings - oh well throw them in the freezer. I have so much to learn about all this. It took me like a week to come up with Tula Belle's name and Turbo only over a weekend. Its funny but I had a list of names for him and didn't end up using any once I watched him and his personality came out. Turbo comes from running around the house like he had a jet engine up his butt It was either Turbo or Thunderpants and the kids didn't like Thunderpants, although I do. Over the years I've named my animals B's - Betty Boop, Boomer, Biscuit, Butter, Bradford the possum, and Bruno. I'm trying to come up with a good B - girl GSD name just in case I decide to get another puppy sometime this year. Oh a guy I work with named his cat Professor Fatbody

Now, don't put the wings up on my account. I really don't know about cats. If it were a dog, I would definitely wait on the wings.
Cats, I don't know. I would hate for Turbo to do a more literal impression of a cat with a jet engine up his butt.

Ok but I don't think its a bad idea to wait anyway and see how he does on the boneless. I just gave Tula Belle a few more pieces of the chicken. She seemed to like. Hopefully now that she knows she likes she will eat it mixed with the HK. We'll see. I'm relieved a little though that she ate some more.

I've stuck to chicken necks...good, meaty ones, with my cats. I've also fed meaty chicken backs, in smaller pieces, with success.
I cut the necks into large pieces, rather than giving it whole. My cats will run off into the house with anything too big, which doesn't thrill me.
As with dogs, you can gauge the amount of bone your cat is getting by looking at the poop (if they use a litter box). It will be lighter and smaller, which is fine. You just don't want yellow poop.
{{sigh}} My life is monitoring animal poop...

How is your effort to switch the kitties going?
I tried to switch from wellness Core to EVO for cats this week, and one of them ate fine, the other one picked out all of the Core and left the EVO and the other has been walking around moaning at me for two days.
I can't imagine trying to switch them to something as different as prowl after their reactions to a partial kibble change this week.

My kitties have been successfully switched over to HK Prowl. I have been giving them in addition to the Prowl some boneless chicken breast. They love! Sometimes I will add a little cottage cheese or split an egg between them. I'm having a hard time trying to find the chicken necks and backs for them and Bruno though. He's also been getting some boneless chicken in his Force. Is it ok to maybe next time get him the Embark and switch that up every other time? Also, how do I know if I am feeding him enough? His neck seems smaller I had to tighten his collar however his body weight when I run my hands down his sides feels the same. Thoughts please? Thanks for all the great info.

Good to hear about your cats! I suggested to my friend who's cat has an UTI that she try the Prowl.
She was wondering b/c she has multiple cats and wasn't sure about the eating at different rates thing, but I told her it shouldn't be an issue.
And then I started wondering why I don't feed it to my guys.

They really like it. They know exactly when its eating time and they both have their spots picked out on the counter as to where they sit and wait to be served. I have noticed their water intake has been down drastically and really so has Bruno's since he started HK. Also, doubt this has anything to do with it but I put a rug back up by the front door and so far Turbo has been a good boy and not peed on it I still keep him out of the bathroom though so he can't get to those rugs They have also adjusted pretty well to new set eating times. They used to be grazers and eat out of the bowl all day long just whenever they would get hungry but now its 5:30am and 5:30pm and sometimes a little snack of chicken around 8pm. Not sure if it was you that posted about the vet wanting someone to switch to Science Diet? But when I had Boomer my vet had me switch to Science Diet for sensitive stomach due to IBS and I really wish I had known then what I know now because I never would have done it. She never got any better

Yup, that was my friend w/the Hills-prescribing vet.
Good to know, I was wondering about the grazing thing as well.
I had a foster cat who passed away last June for 4 years and she had IBD. I was always trying special prescription diets, nothing worked. It was switching to raw for Luc, when she had a bad episode, I started ff her raw (little balls of ground) and she started to recover. We stuck to grain-free after that b/c I was always worried about them not eating raw fast enough, but she never had a stomach upset for the rest her life. I wish I'd known sooner too.
And that is GREAT news about Turbo!

Yeh Boomer was always on antibiotices, special diet, hairball ointments, pills etc...she was a GREAT cat though! She was loyal like a dog..followed me around. She was just the sweetest thing and I fed her crap. that sucks but I'm so glad to be learning better ways. I feel so good watching my kitties and Bruno eat because i know its really good for them.
