True. I'm not as familiar with HSUS as I am with PETA, so I don't feel comfortable talking about them if I don't have anything to really back up my arguments. I do need to look into them, though, and spread the word!
I do know this, though: eight years ago I adopted my cat from our local humane society. It said she was eight weeks old and ready to go. I was only 13 at the time, so I thought adopting a shelter kitten would be cheap and would save a life. Little did I know the extent to which I saved her life. The day after I brought her home she became completely lethargic and ill. When we went to the vet, they said there was no way she was a day over 4 weeks old. It's a good thing I didn't spay her at the humane society, they said. She would have never survived the surgery. My mom and I had even wondered why they didn't spay her before they adopted her out, but didn't think that much of it. She had a serious, untreated case of coccidia and they didn't think she would live then either. But, by the grace of God, she pulled through and is now a very healthy kitty who loves life. She's 8 years now, but still acts like a kitten!
Hi Katie,
Thank you for the link you posted. I am interested in checking it out. For a complete view on how each person voted and to find out more about HSUS you can visit petpac.net direct link provided in previous post.
Also, if anyone is interested.....The akc is quite informative about the ammendmant by Flores. http://www.akc.org then just click on legislative alerts. The ultimate goal, if one reads between lines, and is aware of their history is for none of us to even own domestic animals!
BTW awesome Pembroke Corgi! My Winston passed 3 years ago at age 13. Always was such a nice compliment to my German Shepherds.
Warm Regards,
Kerri
Interesting fact..
The ASPCA Oposses Mandatory spay/neuter http://www.aspca.org
Although the link merely brings you to their homepage their statement is under policies and positions, if interested in seeing their complete view on this topic.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your Winston. I'm sure he was more than a pleasure to have around. I never thought dogs could have as much personality as Corgis do!
I'll definitely check out those links. I'm glad the ASPCA opposes because I'm a member. I would be really disappointed if they turned out to have the same views as HSUS and PETA. I believe that they don't want anyone to own domesticated animals. They seem to have no knowledge of animal behavior, needs, or training. It's a bummer because for a short while I respected them until I found out their views on BSL, and now this.
Hi Katie,
Thanks for the sympathy with Winston. We miss him dearly. I dream of another Corgi one day, just for now busy with kids and German Shepherds.
I respect you being a vegetarian and having to realize a group that openly professes one thing has such underlying motives.
Just curious to hear your thoughts after you've had a chance to peruse all the info at petpac with regards to this topic.
If you'd like ,reply to my e-mail listed under my profile here.
Thanks.
Thanks to Ed Frawley for giving us a voice and another means by which to be heard.

This is a link to NAIA's list of verified quotes from the leaders of the "animal rights" movement. It may give you an idea of the way the people behind this kind of legislation think about animals.

Thanks Kerri, I sent you an email
Thanks for those quotes Mary, I have read some of them, but not all. I can't believe the things these people say. I was glad to read this on the PetPac website:
"Note: The Humane Society of the United States, HSUS no longer supports mandatory spay and neuter."
Is this definitely true? Because if it is, it's a good thing! I know HSUS is responsible for other issues, but at least they've stepped down from this battle. It also states that the PETA shelter in Virginia kills 95% of its animals. Doesn't this raise red flags to people?
Thanks you Mary so much. To see in black in white what I had already known had quite the impact. It only serves to enforce our need for unity. Would be nice to hear from others regardless of where they live. Perhaps we should start a new thread?
Best Regards,
Kerri
p.s.Thks. Katie, I got the e-mail and responded.
