Around 7:00 I tried another piece of back with smooshed ground chicken. She licked the ground off again but was not interested in the back.
I had to leave the house for a bit and while I was gone my husband fed her some pork brisket bone (against my instructions - men!) and she actually ate some. I was worried when he told me but there has been no vomiting.
Unfortunately, she still hasn't pooped so I don't have that update.
Is it possible she just doesn't care for the backs? My other 2 dogs will not have anything to do with backs.
Greta Noodle is now eating the same thing as the other dogs.
The chicken backs just never worked out. I just posted on another thread that the dogs in my house have NEVER liked chicken backs. They just won't touch them. Perhaps the backs I get have too many hormones or are not fresh enough? I don't know but I'm not going to force it. They'll eat chicken necks though.
It takes her a long time and it's alot of work for her to get through the pork brisket but she obviously really likes it.

It's true that I buy all Smart Chicken.
Pork brisket has two strikes against it for me as a beginner-RMB. One is that pork is a later addition for me, since it gives a few dogs GI problems. But also is the difficulty for a beginner of estimating bone-meat ratio in it.
If someone has been feeding raw for ages and "gets" the bone-meat ratio, then of course all kinds of things work.
P.S. I recently mentioned chicken backs to the butcher at the natural foods store where I buy whole chickens, since they also sell parts, and he had more than 15 pounds saved for me next time I came in. He said "I don't know how much these should cost" and I said "How about 79 cents a pound? I have paid that for backs elsewhere" and he said fine.
So I am getting Smart Chicken backs for 79 cents a pound. I was so pleased that I emailed Cindy the next day.
Always ask! And it doesn't hurt to be a long-time shopper at the store, either. The butcher wants long-time shoppers to be happy and to run in to pick up an armload of chicken backs and probably buy more stuff on the way through.
