The fact that your vet just stuck a finger in it and took a look and did not do any tests does not sound very encouraging. I would seek another opinion. There was a pup in a poor shape with a bad infection, unknown medical history and pretty much unknown everything. In your case you can rule out almost everything that guy could have had. The smell was ... very wrong. The pup's lower intestine was damaged. In your pup's case it could be a slight malfunction of the same organ. If you could have more fecal tests done it won't hurt. Here you could see some illustrations of human GI tract. FYI. Ana
