The male that I have in my pic below started lifting his leg at 9 weeks old & did it all the time after that & yet was latent in maturing mentally- go figure. I have had others that were 5-6 months or more when they started & didn't lift it every time, until they were much older. They are all different & do things in their own time. Even my female will occasionally lift her leg & mark. LOL
My male has never lifted his leg either, and he will be 2 in June.
I always wonder too if he will one day, but I don't really care.
Funny thing is, he does lean forward a bit and on walks he will mark areas but in that leaning position not a leg lift.
I always wondered if he was around any males if he would have learned ?
We have a male Italian Greyhound who just started lifting his leg at age 8 or so. I think maybe he finally figured out he was peeing on his front legs.
A dog has alot of friends because he wags his tail instead of his mouth.
Norbert, Rhodie, still squats at 5yo he can and has lifted his leg but rarely does. Widget, Brussels female 6yo has marked since she was....two. Thankfully no one pees on themselves. Did have a Westie that would get peed on constantly because he would get under the big dogs while they were marking. Not real bright.
