Thanks, Meredith, he really is a looker, and still a pup at heart. Last night, we had the pool light on and a moth got in the water. It flopped around and teased this dog until - next thing I heard was a SPLOOSH - and he gobbled up the moth in one gulp! Guess he doesn't mind water....
That book is on order. I splurged and bought one for a penny (+ shipping).
We have a listing on a local Akita rescue site. Apparently, they had a couple responses already, and have sent out applications. We are getting pretty attached to this boy, so the candidates will have to be good ones...we just want to be doing right by this guy until he gets a permanent home that suits his needs.
As always, this forum has been tremendously helpful, and we are very greatful for the information.
A dog has alot of friends because he wags his tail instead of his mouth.

I'll be doing some work out in Colorado in July. 8 days on, 6 days off (I'll be bringing the dogs). If nobody has snatched him up by then...
