Thanks! She was a foster dog who never left - not sure anyone else would have ever adopted her. It has been very cool to watch her continue to evolve over time. She cracks me up. The e-collar has helped immensely with getting her to pay more attention to me when we are out and about and I feel like it has helped us bond. It works really well except for when she is aroused by another dog - then it backfires.
What really gets her excited? Cats, foxes or deer :-).
She loves to tug. Funny enough she will tug with me but not with my older dog == she always drops the toy when my older dog tries to tug with her. She was never food motivated in the early years and so I stopped using food in training. However, it might be worth trying again to see if she would be more responsive to food now that she has calmed down just a bit.
That is really interesting. It never occurred to me to use tugging for training. I will check out the tug video. The feral or semi-feral diagnosis is a guess because I have no idea how she came to the shelter. When I first got her she was clearly terrified of people. I had to crawl into the crate and pry her little claws that were wrapped around the wire in order to get her out of the crate -- but she never once tried to bite me. That confirmed to me that she was worth rescuing.
