I tried to google it and came up with surprisingly little.

lol, sorry guys it was a play on the Czech Republic where my GSD's parents came from.
I also type "Canadia" and actually pronounce "Maryland" as "Mary-Land" to add a bit of humor in to the geography.

I currently charge 1000.00 for puppies, as the base price. Meaning "high end". I give discounts for people who have previously purchased a pup from me, or who have titled a dog to the highest level in their venue. So a number of pups in a litter are usually sold for less then 1000.00, and usually 1 or 2 aren't sold at all, but kept by me, put on a co-own, etc.
In Malinois, you will find pups from about 800 - 2000 for the norm, with the occasional litter less then 800 or more then 2000.
When I first started in Malinois pups were around 300-500, once they became more popular with the Schutzhund crowd, the prices went up fast since GSD, Rott, Dobe, etc were 1000+ at the time.
Interesting little side, usually I have raised my prices as prices of everything (dog food, vet care, stud fees, etc) goes up. But I actually raised my prices a few years ago because of the buyers. I kept having people ask me why my pups were cheaper then some other breeders, implication if they were cheaper, they must not be as good. And a few people did go with another breeder, and made it clear price (the higher price of the other breeder) was part of the reason why. Umm, OK, if you really think the quality of the pup improves if you give me an extra couple hundred dollars, I guess I'll take it LOL

I wonder if geography influences price. I know my sister has Portuguese Water Dogs and she says that you can get a nice show dog in Neb. for the same price as a medium pet on the east or west coasts.
As my mom used to say...anything is worth what someone will pay for it.
Name calling....growing up it was always "Son! Ness! Turn around dammit so I can see who you are!"

Numbers and demand certainly influence prices I know east coast papillons at pet prices are quite a bit higher than pacific nw and and both higher than midwest prices. Right now the in thing to do is get dogs from three particular overseas breeders so for those dogs the price is a bit more. The cost with contract sometimes to get a full registration dog are so laughable so I've never gotten to the point of actually getting a dollar amount.

I really don't know too much about the pricing of pups. I guess one would need to look into their pediagree (personally still working on this) to account for some of the variances. Pick of the litter, male/female, etc. which others have posted.
Although I have heard some have increased the price to 'scare off' the nuisance shoppers, those that aren't really committed to owning a dog, or those that don't plan to work the dog in the area for titles, etc. I would think the breeders screening process would resolve this, maybe not.
I tend to think that in most cases people think higher dollar is associated with quality and just don't do the research.

There is a lot of scams going on also. There is people out there that are copying breeders websites, or starting their own webpage and just using other breeders pictures to claim they have some "English Bulldogs" for sale..They do everything through western union so it cant be traced. I was reading some stuff about this a few days ago thought I would share it on this post.

Geography does influence price. I pd $1000 for a show quality Dobe in Mississippi but in New York the going price is around $3500
