that's some info on it. I made my own glowing collar (my dog went to a convention with me and I thought he needed some rave wear...no, we didn't actually go IN the the rave XD)
it's quite bright and comes in all sorts of colors
That glow wire is really neat!! I might have to look into that...
Auroralites are supposedly the "cadillac" of illuminating dog collars. Expensive, but supposedly they work well and hold up well. I don't have any experience with them. I got a cheap version at Petsmart a few years ago and it held up reasonably well. But they don't carry them anymore as far as I know.
I use the Spot-Lits and really really like them as they are very sturdy and waterproof and have a long battery life. I also do what Kiersten does and use those reflective bands with the leds in them - very visible even from distance! batttery life in them was very good also. I just bought more Spot-Lites as we go into fall training season.
OK, it actually took some digging as the armbands I was talking about were given to me by a musher (he uses them on his dogs when running at night). Here's the product: http://maxsainnovations.com/products/20024.htm
A search for 'reflective safety band with 4 LED lights' should give you a few on-line options to purchase. This was the best deal I found:
Unless your dogs are small, buy two to cover each dog's neck. They did start to wear out after about 2 months of daily, hard use. I'll probably pick up 10 or so for this winter so I have plenty of back-ups.
