ok Dana, I'm game! this is the only one not in boxes from 1982 right after college and right before my first kidney transplant. The doctors in Omaha recorded in my medical chart - We have a densely tanned 22 year old female - needless to say, I'm paying for the sun exposure now! Went to 5 different hospitals, finally had in Denver.
Man! I remember looking that tanned (or trying to). The things we did in the 60s (well before your time) .... lie on a flat roof covered with baby oil (oh, THERE'S a good protective shield) with pieces of toothpicks holding toes apart so we wouldn't have unsightly white between-toes area (you all surely know how awful that looks if you accidentally flex a toe in sandals) .... adding a little iodine to the baby oil in an emergency (a dance in three days) ....
Of course, we had the huge bonus of frosty white lipstick, which made even normal skin look more tanned. Or at least less white than our lips.

Ok, can't quite wrap my head around that picture!
We were doing that in the 80's, too...me, fortunately, not as much as my friends who's skin now looks like shoe leather. Of course these friends also smoked heavily and drank more than their fare share, too, which didn't help. I didn't have enough self confidence to lay around in my bathing suit at a pool in front of anyone I knew. Vacation, well that was different. I figured I'd never see any of those people ever again!

Okay, I'll play
Here is the only 80's pic I can actually find at the moment. It's not my favorite because I had just had my hair cut short, and I hate short hair on me. So, of course, this is also the photo that got blown up larger than life and hung on the wall of a local salon for a couple of years. Goody.
80's pic
Kristel,
I have to tell you, when I first read your post I thought it said "hung in a saloon"....then I looked at the pic and went "wait a minute...." and re-read it!
Great pic!

Yeah, people think all we had in the 60s were sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Not true. We also had go-go boots, mini skirts, and white lipstick.

What about the flat roof?

OK, and thanks for adding that to the montage as well!
I was thinking if you were on a flat roof that you were hiding from others????
Oh wait, it was an orgy on the flat roof, right?

That WOULD be funny!
I remember not worrying about sun exposure at all, and my mom laying in the sun for hours on what looked like a big piece of tinfoil. My family is predominantly Irish and Native American and my mom (and sister) definitely took after the Native American side so she would get crazy-dark. I think her naturally dark complexion (which also came with naturally jet-black hair) saved her from looking like an old saddle now that she's older, but she got LUCKY. She wore the light, frosted lipstick too. It was an interesting look!
My Irish complexion doesn't appreciate the sun so much.
