Doug is a great guy, but has never quite gotten the "art" of holidays/birthdays down pat... He just asked me a few minutes ago "so... did you want to do anything tonight?" He is now dozing... LOL!
hahahahaha....is that a natural doze, or is there a lump forming on his skull?
My dad is the same way. Grumbles about "Hallmark Holidays", doesn't do anything to celebrate any other special day, but there is no one more generous or kind everyday.
LOL...Mine’s the same way Barbara. 20 years of marriage will do that to you. Don’t you just love the comfort of it though. I’ll bet if you did come up with something you wanted to do, he’d be on it in a heartbeat, whatever it was.
You are correct CJ. If I made all the plans and reservations, etc... he'd be happy to go along and would have a good time. However, for whatever reason, I can't bring myself to do it for my own birthday - just feels weird.
Mine is also somewhat holiday/special occasion deficient and thinks that taking it out of the sack and putting into a pretty one is pure silliness LOL.
At least we have progressed beyond gifts like Bungee cords for Christmas. Yes I needed them, but those are so not something I am going to be thrilled about pulling out of the walmart sack they came in on christmas morning
Thirty-five years ago, Doug called me when he was leaving work and said he had a "little surprise" for me when he got home. We were newlyweds so my imagination began running rampant... flowers, a nightie, chocolate???
He walks in with a brown lunch bag and sets it on the dining room table. Hmmmm... okay, so don't judge a book by it's cover, right?
I open the bag and staring back at me is a blue crawfish. Waving his big pinchers up at me angrily.
I just looked at Doug with a confused "WTH?" look and he said "I found him in the parking lot at work and thought you'd get a kick out of it!" I did - it made me chuckle.
The man would walk through fire or swim through shark infested waters for me if needed, so you just gotta chuckle.
