He looks more suave here. It's his "half asleep, really relaxed and recharging but one eye partly slit open alert to danger and ready to leap into Lassie mode" look:
And Barbara, I have no idea what you mean by "freaky."
Unless it's that Dalmatian foot?

Ok, I have to admit, I would like to own a dog that looks like Oliver. After all the dog shows and everything else I've done, I'd get a kick out of him sleeping on our couch.
But only because of the vet bills. He was seven, for a bulldog that is well into the senior years. I knew that I couldn't afford the potential vet bills for a senior Frenchie and a German shepherd puppy at the same time.

I did turn down a Frenchie rescue.

I do adopt health-challenged dogs. But I have to limit it to dogs whose health is, IMO, impaired because of bad food and/or terrible allergy management.
I can't take on the kind of chronic illness that would mean a lot of vet bills -- only the kind I believe I can manage or even reverse with different "life-style" care.
So believe me, I'm on the same page when it comes to having to "turn down a Frenchie rescue .... because of the vet bills."
