hehe
talk about another petsmart story
i was training and socializing my bull dog mix one day and the trainer came up to me with a cookie in hand and in this stupid little voice told my dog to sit. i just smiled and let her do it. he didnt of course and she started on telling me i need to think about class. i just smiled again and told her he does not understand english and told him to sit in french which he did. i really dont like other people giving my dog a command

But in reality, dogs don't understand english, french, german, dutch, or whatever language you train in.... they are conditioned to respond to a sound with a certain action. Then we complicate it all with body language. I could tell Koenig to go get a doughnut, but move my body a certain way and ask him to sit. I've actually never trained Koe in French, but he'll sit to Assi.

Whenever the petsmart trainer comes up to me one of the first things I mention is "we are thinking about a class but just have to find out when the best time for us will be. We already picked up a schedule" just to beat them to it.
They are so annoying about it and of course they get paid commision so they push it hard.
I just learned that my local Home Depot and Lowes allow dogs in. I primarily used Petsmart for distraction training (I go online/to a small business for my actual pet needs). Now I will have almost no need for them.
*except for when my little Sha-nee-qua and cKanondrah (my hamsters) need food/bedding the small business doesn't carry.

Yeah, they've asked me 'Who trained your dog for you?" Or my favorite "Where did you send him to get him trained?"
HAHAH. NOWHERE, Fool! I worked my butt off to get my dog to behave like this in your nut-house of a store!

I have a “WORKING DOG DO NOT PET ” vest and just a hour ago I was dropping off my wife at the airport and guess what happened…
14 week old mal puppy and working on him not being aggressive towards people…going very good so far…TSA officer comes up reads the vest out load, I tell her to please ignore the puppy, and “oh I’m a dog person” I say politely AGAIN to please ignore him he is in training to be a service dog…she ignores me again bends over him tries to pet him and says oh he needs socialization if he is going to be a service dog, I tell her AGAIN to please leave him alone, then she tries to play with him!!!!…he starts getting very agitated with her and she proceeds to tell give me all kinds of training tips…she has collies she says, I ask if they are trained and she says no they don’t need much training….couldn’t believe it…..sorry had to vent!!!
What the hell is wrong with people??? I am going to get a shirt that says “DO NOT TOUCH ME OR MY f’ing DOG….maybe that will work…
Next time I will bring one of my older dogs and say pass auf means sit!!!!

I rarely take my dogs to Petsmart - stresses ME out - but I was thinking of their "trainers" telling my dog to sit and yikes how rude! But really, even though my dogs are not trained with english commands, my little hambone of a girl would totally sit on the off chance the jabbering stranger might give her food. My boy ignores almost all adults. He doesn't like food and is disinterested in stranger adults.
In my experience, if they're wearing a vest, more adults will ask questions want to chat. A lot of adults think service dogs are cool and fascinating and have a sincere curiosity. I get less adults approaching my dog when he isn't wearing a vest. He looks scary even though he's very stable. I think a lot of people think vest = trained, perfect service dog. Maybe also "communal property". And they are idiots.

DO IT.
I mean, not really, 'cause that would be bad. But reading your post made me so damn irritated. It's one thing for a kid to be like "Puppy! I pet!" but an adult, completely disregarding his training/your rules/etc makes me want to really punch whoever decided it was a good idea to play "Yellow Submarine" in Border's right now.
F****** hate that song.
Anyway, next time, you should just say something like "Touch my dog again and I'll give you some socialization with the fishies".

I just love our new bark on command. It now work with a small hand move and Harley will bark with feet off the ground. He look bad but just so happy to get a treat after. Keep people away.
Probably a very bad/wrong thing to do but I don't know what's with him and half tug him back then a shuut and the show is over.
Again sure it is not the best idea but it work wounder
