The BH simply stakes out the dog and has another dog walk by, a breeze for Vince. He’s getting fairly aloof to people milling about/hand shaking when he’s by my side and we’ve pretty much got the obedience moves down.
It can be a fairly low key part of the test. I have had one dog just tied to a tow hitch while another dog was walked by (he just kept looking for me the whole time). And a under a different judge I have had to heel a dog in a weave pattern through the other dogs taking the test and stop at the end of the row for all the other dogs to weave through as well. We had to weave facing the backs of each dog first and then back through again but head on this time. We were spaced about ten feet away and no dog was allowed to show aggression or break possition.
So keep in mind that the judge is allowed to test the dogs in any way he wants to prove the dogs soundness, or not. Many were not THAT prepared for the extent of the weave test and failed. But a BH is a great goal for any dog!!!
ATTS is NOT a SCH thing at all. It is an independent association that ONLY tests dogs temperament. On their site, you can see the pass/fail rating of all the different breeds, along with the percentage that passes. Here is a link: ATTS Statistics
Another video (this one tells you what the is being tested at each station) Heiko's ATTS Test
The BH is a SCH only deal that is a combination of an OB test and a temperament test at the same time, same day. The OB part is "similar" to the AKC CD title and has on and off leash heeling (and through a crowd), sit (in motion and stationary) and downs (in motion and stationary) and a long down (off leash) while another dog is performing the OB stuff.
Here is a video of the ATTS dog above, Heiko, earning his BH: Heiko'ssss BH It does NOT show the temperament portion that comes after the dog passes the OB part...
For the AKC, I "believe" the closest thing to a temperament test is the CGC.

I agree with all the comments that the CGC steps are pretty basic and if you have solid OB and a stable, well socialized pup, a class is not really required.
However, I have found my class valuable because of the variety of strange dogs introduced for the hand shake portion (they bring in a different shelter dog every week), the variety of equipment used (wheelchairs, walkers, baby strollers) and the amount of people available for the "milling around in a crowd" scenario...
Heiko's Atts was interesting to me. I am surprised the dog did not bark at the
threatening person.
I think a dog could react differently depending upon it's age. Is there a certain age at which this test is preformed?
I know mixed-breed dogs can do the CGC (CGN in Canada) but are they allowed to do the TT and/or the BH? My dog is a breed that is not recognized by the CKC or AKC. (Still a great dog though)

Excellent information Jessica. I'll up the dog exposures to include weaving exercises. Thanks!!
