Even though it is not right to encourage it, I kind of think his barking is cute as he is torn between obeying you and his toy and he is telling you that and he is wagging his tail and enjoying it. That is what is most important.
Not sure how well Koenig handles corrections. All my dogs are soft so if I correct too much it makes them very submissive. but If Koenig can handle corrections, I would have corrected him for being distracted at 2:05 in your video. At 2:04 he heard you say foose and at 2:05 he ran around.
Also previously when he was heeling, and barking, I would have said "no geblaut" and if that barking continues, I would have said "bad boy" or any other word you use to tell him that he is in trouble (Bad boy is a scolding and NO which is just a negative marker in my dog's language).
If I were training Kaiser and he did that, I would give a strong correction at 2:05 - 2:09 to bring the drive down a bit. It is the drive for his toy that is making him act funny. You have to judge if correcting him will just bring his drive down or shatter his world and distress him. Or Verbal is enough or physical is needed.
You should not have asked him to heel when he was in that mind set.So the mistake is yours . But since you have started you have to correct him.
Lastly, He is so beautiful. give him a big kiss on my behalf.
Faisal- my TD is in the UsCA Sch3 club several times over. I'm really lucky to have the training opportunities I have, so close to me.
Kiss given, Ram! I did tell him to shut up (or something like that, at one point, and he did) A lot of that barking was from the fireworks. It's totally out of the norm for him, and I'm really not concerned about it. At this point, the only time he really barks in heeling is when I step on his feet. Whoops! But Dammit dog, quit crowding me, and I won't step on you!!!!!!! lol.
I didn't really have a suitable collar on to correct. Just had a little leather slip collar on. He handles corrections well. Rarely redirects on me, but never shuts down. (Ha, he's a Dutch. lol. I don't think I could shut him down if I tried!)
I'll try to get another video tomorrow @ training. He'll be in a 'working' mindset there.
Koenig's bite work from yesterday. This is not the normal helper that he works on- seems to do a bit better with the right-sleeved helped. (sucks him in more, on the bark and hold) Oh well, he's a young dog.
