Betty, the adoption contract states that I have to return him to the SF Humane Society, where I got him. They have a facility, few fosters for expectant mothers. My hope is to find Breed rescue, preferably with foster homes because the HS will allow dogs to skip their facility if breed rescue is available. If that isn't possible, then I would like to have potential adopters ready to apply for him to get him out of their quickly. The HS does not euth. They are there until they find a home, but it's a strssful place and I really don't want him to have to go back there.
I'd also check with herding dog rescues (BC, Aussie, cattledog) in your area and see if they they might be willing to take him. They are used to working with/placing the high energy working type dogs and sometimes they're willing to take on another breed if they have space.

I was wondering if it was a contract return clause. Gotcha.
I don't want to sound like a wet blanket but I know the rescues here are overflowing and pretty much only taking dogs from death row.
The potential adopters, good luck, but you did see how fast that fell apart with your girl.
I know it's a long shot Betty, but I'm going to try my hardest until Thursday! I picked thurs b/c IF he has to go back he will be out on Friday for potential homes. Most adoptions are Saturdays.
Thanks Mara, will check into some tonight.
Betty, we have found a rescue to work with. He is technically not part of the rescue, but the president is helping screen applicants and if we don't find a suitable home for him via their approved applicant data base, he will get his own foster that may be available in October.
I will continue to take care of my dogs at home, my mom's dog at her place and the run to the farms my other animals are at indefinitely until he gets the home he needs. It took a bit with the HS to agree to it, be we did it. I am hoping to loose a bunch of weight with all the crazy running I have to do. Esp. taking 3 different sets of dogs walking, biking etc twice a day Not a fun situation to smile at, but if I don't, I'm going to break in two. Thank you to everyone who offered to help cross post him for me. I really appreciate all of the good hearts here at LB.
Amy , hang in there. You have done everything you can for the best possible outcome under the circumstances. Your dogs love you, and always will. Even Tanner. My heart goes out to you for making the hard choices, and doing whats best for Tanner, and not for yourself. I wish you strength and peace of mind.
