The water drinking...
How long have you had the puppy? Sometimes a pup fresh from his litter can't believe that all this food, all this water, this whole bowl is for ME and eats like crazy and drinks the same, for a few days. Too, a pup is made of water, they do drink a bunch.
I guess I'd let him have his fill, have it there all the time (except to regulate housetraining, I'd pick it up in the early evening, so he sleeps overnight). Get a feel for how much water he really is drinking.
From his photo he looks like a well grown healthy pup, well started.

In fact, Colin, I was just reading in the manuals to "get a feel for how much he is drinking" .... they describe a little written log of intake. (Measure how much it takes to fill the bowl to a certain level, and write down each time you refill it about how much is gone.... )
If he is actually polydipsic and not just reveling in his new "stuff," it will be a good thing to have for the vet.

So Im dwindling down to the bottom of the bag of IAMS vet formula. Is this a good time to introduce THK to my puppoes diet? He made 8 weeks yesterday... appetite is good.
Also, I remember hearing from someone that I shouldnt "bathe" a puppy that is less than 12 weeks, that I should wipe him down using a damp cloth and not get him "wet"?!

Why? What was the reasoning? I've heard that too but never heard a believable reason.

I would make the THK into a thinner mix than the box says, like a gravy, and pour some (after it's fully rehydrated) over the food you are giving. Some dogs need to get used to the very different consistency of THK after kibble.
When you have worked your way from a little "gravy" through the gradual substitution, and you are at 100% THK, that would be when you would start to add RMBs (like maybe skinless chicken back, to start) per the package. I would stick with the package max for add-ins with a baby puppy; and stick to the two (I think it's two) THK recipes recommended for growing puppies.

sounds good... thanks Connie.
and yeah, I never heard a valid reason as to why we shouldn't "bathe" a puppy. I mean, I was told once that "getting his head wet will traumatize him" and make it "harder for me to bathe him when he gets older"...?? oh well, Im just going to plop him into the utility sink and clean him up...LoL

New puppies at my house get bathed early and often--along with cleaning ears, brushing teeth, grinding nails, etc.
Sure, they fuss the first time or two, but making it fun with lots of treats makes it easier. And getting puppies used to grooming and handling from early in life will make it a whole lot easier down the road. Puppies will put up with almost anything if introduced to it early enough and in the right way.
