Last puppy DVD I watched from Ed, he stayed away from flexi leads. With his revised edition, he uses flexi leads couples with a harness. I like how he explained why and I agree with it.
My question is, do you leave the harness on at all times? even during the day in a crate? If you only put it on before a walk, is there a slight chance the puppy will see it as a trigger for a walk and get excited?
Clarify by spelling every little thing out. Some people can be extreme when drawing their own conclusions.
Pups will learn over time that the harness & or leash will mean a walk. They need to learn to be calm & quiet to come out of the crate & sit or stand patiently for the harness or leash to be put on to leave the house. These are all training objectives.
