I have one of those simple names (Bob) that's hard to mess up unless you put the capitol B at the end as in boB. It's a lot harder to pronounce that way...and it's my middle name, not my first name.
Will that get me tossed off the forum?
I don't think anyone has ever messed up Scott.
Well my name as it is spelled is supposed to be pronounced treesa, so you're not really wrong you guys. My parents decided to spell it that way and pronounce it wrong. One day I'll legally change it to Tressa (looks better anyway).

Duane, I think it really depends where you're from. In the UK it's generally said fin-lee. It's an Irish/Scottish name and in those countries they say fin-lay.
Don't know if I dare pop my nose into this thread.
Barrett is pronounced like the critter ferret. Not beret, like in the hat and I always get a ton of variations. Barnet, Bennett, BARette. My favorite was an Asian telemarketer. Harrow Ms. Ballet.
And CJ, well let's see. Sea Jay. And as if that's not short enough, it's pretty rare I hear that these days. It's usually Ceej pronounced like siege.
And yes, sheepishly hiding head, it's a shortened variation of my given names but other than a few professional interactions, I rarely get called anything but.
Okay, going back to quietly hide in a corner and put on a stealth coat to fade into the walls. Not opening any PM's from Will or Connie...la, la, la, la, la.
I had one guy try to tell me once that Kelly was short for Kelina. I explained to him that it's actually my great grandmother's Irish surname. He didn't believe me. Guess I just don't know anything about my own name.
My mom's maiden name was Pampuch. Go ahead, try it, you'll never get it... (little hint- it's Polish)
