Thanks to all of your insight and input we have discontinued daycare permanently.
I showed up unannounced one day and observed her being bullied (sexually harassed) unsupervised by a much larger male. Later when I picked her up they said she did "great today". Yes, unfortunately it appears to be all about the money. The employees seem well intentioned, but uneducated.
At 18 months we do still crate her at night. She sleeps at the foot of our bed. We are leaving her out during the day for 4-5 hours now! She is doing fantastic. I leave her in her crate with a treat and the door open. Then I set up her mat where she likes to hang-out in the living room with a treat on that. She doesn't disturb anything, she doesn't even drink her water. When we get home...boy is she ready to play!!!

Christie...that was the kind of stuff that I was talking about when I said that bad experiences can happen & the staff would not tell the owner or even be aware of it happening or feel that it should be anything of any concern.
Good for you to show up & check things out for yourself.
I will NEVER leave her at a strange place again. She is MY dog, and I need to control her experiences. Thank you all for teaching me that important lesson (Molly thanks you too)!
I can't believe how quickly she took to having free run of the house. I thought the transition would be much more difficult. Goes to show how a good foundation, and proper timing play together. We still don't go past five hours, but we're pretty happy with that.
We worked on recall off leash yesterday in the unfenced part of our acre. We had a lot of fun. My hubby helped, which he usually doesn't with training, was bonding for us all. She was in her harness on a long line, had her e-collar too, only had to stim her once.
