I have now started trying to extend the stay by having him down and moving away telling him good boy and going back every now and then and giving him a treat and he will continue to do this for just over two minutes, or until i stop treating and then get up to do what he wants. You right, i want him to do it for me, not just treats or toys. This is the hard bit
Make sure you release him before he gets up. He needs a beginning and a clear end. If he's getting up whenever he wants, thats too random. Stay close for now until you've clearly taught him what that release means.
Big ditto. Don't walk away and leave him to do the same.

Thanks everyone
i will start putting what you have said into practice and see how i go.
Mike - Definately Man City is my team, United are our biggest rivals.
Torres is a quality player, but lost a bit of form over the past couple of seasons.
My favourite players are - Carlos Tevez, David Silva and Sergio Aguero, all City players, but world class. Well thats my opinion anyway. Lol

I have a couple of brain-game books, but not that one. Let us know about it, please!

Hi Guys
I have implemented some of your suggestions.
1. He is now on his lead more around the house.
2. Practicing longer stays in the house and park.
3. Practicing getting him to go to his bed and a place in the lounge.
All in all the past few days have been much better.
Still very easily distracted, but will work on that.
I will let you know what its like Connie. Give his little nugget something to think about.
Cheers
Brian

"Still very easily distracted, but will work on that."
Reminder: Work with him first, until he is very reliable, where there is nothing to distract him.
I would not be practicing longer stays in the park yet. And in the park, I'd be waaaaay over away from everyone and everything. For me, at this stage, the park would be nothing but a short little session just to introduce the idea of a change in venue.
Nothing that is not yet extremely reliable at home, with no distraction, is ready to go on the road (to the park).
Are you staying close, as mentioned by Steve?
PS
Sounds like you're doing much better!

Hi Connie
The park where i take him is not overly busy, have a look a this link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UJNWpd323M
This clip is from a good few months back now, so he is doing better in the park now.
Sticking closer to him now, about 5 metres usually and he can sometimes hold it for up to 3 minutes, with regular reminders.
Will keep working with him.
Hope you all have a great christmas.
Brian

Will do Mike.
Reading, hummm. We dominated possession but couldn't score, scored in the end, bit lucky really.
Torres seems to be finding his scoring boots again lately.
8 nil they won yesterday.
If you would like a site where you can watch the games let me know and i will send you the link and its free which is even better, just have to close the pop ups first.

Hi Guys
Just thought i would give you a little update.
I have been working with him constantly and he is doing a lot better, still gets spooked easily when out, but definately getting better. He is much calmer in the house and relaxing more which is great. We are also making sure we are managing potential situations better, which is also going well. All in all i am very pleased with the progress he is making and life is now more relaxed. I expect we will have a few issues again at some point, but i now have a bit better idea how to manage it. Taking him to the lake district with the family for a few days at the end of feb. This could be a little test, but should be good.
Anyway, i would like to thank you all for all your help.
Many Thanks
Brian
