We're all home safe and sound despite the bad snow fall and the stupid drivers. Took me an hour to drive 20 miles!
Puppy has beginning symptoms of kennel cough, and since I refuse to vaccinate my pets against a cold I'm sure River and the cat will get something from him so we're all off to the vet tomorrow for cough medicine. The joys of shelter dogs and their icky germs. You know that sickly smell people with colds have when they breathe through their mouths? Yea... that's what the car and now my bedroom smell like. Yay.
He was a little timid with the snow under his paws and yet another new place but was surprisingly okay with me carrying the crate up the stairs while holding his leash. It bumped into him a few times and he shied away but didn't freak out.
That 'leash aggression' they were talking about on the FB link? He bites the leash whenever he wants to run away but can't. He also nips pant legs if they're flapping around. What they thought was a dog trying to bite is a Malinois puppy using his teeth to try and control his surroundings and vent stress. What a sad thing dogs are condemned to die for being a dogs.
If the shelter has kennel cough they should be able to provide you with the antibiotics required, perhaps at a reduced rate.
Maybe no one will dispense antibiotics that way anymore.....But that would save you money and keep your dogs from catching it.
Great job Sam... and look at the head on that pup! Wow! He is going to grow into a real looker for sure. I look forward to seeing some pictures of him in the snow!
Just a bit ago I took him out for a potty walk and he wiggled up to a total stranger and sniffed before losing his nerve and coming back to me. Totally aggressive.
River's gone completely bonkers for him. She's incredibly upset that I won't allow them to play and she grumbles to herself and gets all wiggly when he happens to look her way.
