Tracy, I'm sorry to hear you can't get the Apoquel locally. It's weird because my derma vet just called me last Friday to check on Kasey, and said they got a big stash of it. We were having to drive there an hour every other week to get Kasey's, but now that they got a bunch more we can get a month's at a time. Wonder where they got it??
Let us know how it goes getting it from the UK - how long did it take, and did it cost the same?

My derm vet still claims they are getting some. They just don't know when. It's frustrating.
The order from the UK has shipped --should be here in a few days. I ordered 90 days worth. It was a little more expensive than the US price. But I didn't care. I'd pay almost anything to not have to think about Cinco itching constantly, giving him endless baths, topical Benadryl, and none of it really working.

Ya, I understand that now. I never thought it was going to be possible for Kasey to not be incessantly itching. Now that he isn't, I can't go back. I was telling Connie I almost feel like a drug addict who is scared they won't be able to make their next hook up!
But I agree, life is sooo less stressful now without having to be spraying rashes and giving shots, and constantly wiping him down, sticking pills in his mouth twice a day, etc. It is a miracle for him for sure. And he's doing good on just 1 16mg pill once a day most days - maybe twice a week he'll have an itchy day and I'll give him an extra 1/2 pill at dinner too.

Update: UK Apoquel has arrived. One week exactly from the date I ordered it, it arrived. So happy to have been able to lay in a supply!
U.S. pricing (at least this is what I paid my local derm vet) is $1.60 per pill, any size.
U.K. pricing (converted from pounds to dollars) is $2.17 per pill for the 16 mg. size. $1.12 for the two smaller size doses. Shipping was about ten dollars.
So, there you go. If you've been trying to find this new allergy drug but can't get it locally, you might try a U.K.-based online vet pharmacy. The one I used is called VioVet. Bonus: they actually have humans that answer the phone, with charming British accents.
Thank you Tracy, I will keep this topic bookmarked. My boy had some kind of allergy issue late last summer. I actually had an appointment with the derm vet and cancelled it since his issue went away right after a few nights with hard freezes here. If it surfaces again this year, I will make the appointment and bring up this topic to see if Apoquel will help him.

Wow Tracy, that's not a bad price. We have to pay $1.93 for the 16mg pills.
Has anyone been able to find a source for Apoquel recently? I checked VioVet and other places and came up empty. They are all predicting no stock until early 2015. I have also read several articles saying the same thing... due to demand and a lengthy, complex manufacturing process that it won't be in stock for quite some time.
FWIW, A friend used it with her dog and it resulted in mange (one of the side effects listed and why it isn't recommended for dogs under 1 y/o). Her dog has EPI so I'm sure that played into it. So just something to be aware of if your dog is immune compromised.
