Christina,
Have you ever taken him to a chiropractor? Anytime there are blows to the head the neck is likely misaligned, causing restriction of blood flow to parts of the brain. I experienced this myself after a concussion and upper cervical chiropractic care made the world of difference for me. I was having issues concentrating, remembering and lost my ability to taste certain foods...but it all got way better after having my neck adjusted. I thought it was 100% brain damage...but it wasn't.

My brother and I did a midnight "rescue" on a Pit some yrs ago.
She had a slightly crooked front leg from being broke and not set. She had a .22 size pellet or slug under the skin on her neck but most obvious was her one eye would dialate when she got excited.
The vet said that was probably from a head injury.
A trip to chiropractor, as mentioned by Tresa sounds like a good choice IF possible where your at.

Thanks Tresa and Bob for the great tip. I know, that here in our town is none, not even for humans. But I'll look if there is a chiropractor in one of the next bigger towns. It is without doubt worth searching for one. I will also ask varios Vets around here. Would be wonderful if a chiropractor could at least help Charlie, and if it turned out that his brain isn't damaged and he could recover, that would be awesome !!!!!!!!!!! Thanks soooo much!

Tresa,
Always thinking about Charlie I forgot to ask you, how YOU are feeling now. Did you recover completely in between? I hope so. It must have been awful to go through all this.

I re-pmed you, Tresa.
Does anyone have an idea how to open a picture like Tresa and others added to their text? It is not possible to click on it, it doesn't react. Am I doing something wrong or could it be a question of the format?

Christina, IDK because it was showing the pic originally but now its gone.
Here are some supplements you may want to look into that may help his brain:
-Cod Liver Oil (Nordic Naturals or Carlson's are good) the DHA is essential for brain health.
-Lion's Main; Shown to help rebuild brain cells in people with dementia (make sure its ok for dogs, it should be)
-Curcumin; a safe natural anti-inflammatory
-Some others to look into; black cumin seed oil, virgin coconut oil, MCT oil (make sure its not flavored because it may contain xylitol which is toxic to dogs), CBD oil

Hi Tresa, thanks for the tips. Cod liver oil I know from my childhood. I hated it! Made me vomit. Though I guess it will be presented nowadays in another form.
Curcumin I know but only for human use. So I'll seek for it for dogs. I fear it will be difficult to get it here, maybe via internet.
Lion's Main? Lol, I found all nonsense, from songs and lyrics to clothes for dogs but no supplements.
Black cumin seed oil I don't get here, would have to import it from U.S., but it is forbidden to import food.
MCT oil I think I'd get here, but I've read that coconut oil should be preferred, because MCT is manufactured.
Virgin coconut oil is easy to get here. I use it to rub the fur after the weekly bath for all 4 and I also give them a bit of it with their gobble (whole eggs mixed with yoghurt, certain veggies or fruits like papaya, apples or pineapple, sometimes a bit of cooked oats). They're all on raw food diet, mainly muscle meet but also organics in smaller amounts.
Thanks a lot Tresa, I will have to go into this more thoroughly, now it was just a quick overview.

Christina, oops Lion's Mane!
As for the cod liver oil being gross...that's because it was probably rancid. Good quality such as the brands I mentioned when stored properly should have no fishy odor and be very mild tasting.
I give Logan Curcumin made for people, Terry Naturally is the brand I use, but there are others...just make sure its high quality.

For my own vitamins and over the counter herbs my Dr recommends the" NATUREMADE" brand.
She says they seem to have the best quality control and consistency.
