YES, yours a Superior belief system, IMHO No animal should be put through HELL in "the next life" -- Every innocent creature has already earned its Just Reward in eternity after 1 go-round here ... Any human who wants to think that They Themselves should be subjected to some "karmic Punishment cycle" is entitled to their own opinion (of course) but I refuse to accept such a notion when it comes to Pets OR Wildlife Maybe that's just me too, Kel, so I'm definitely WITH you on this one !!!
Hmmmm... Black Beauty went through numerous hell-on-earth tragic circumstances in ONE lifetime without death and reincarnation!
When it comes to tearjerkers, I don't believe anyone has mentioned "The Red Pony"? And how "Bambi" is a children's story has always been beyond me...

I believe that "Bambi" and "Black Beauty", along with "Beautiful Joe" and any similar tales, were traditional children's stories meant to TEACH youngsters (and oldsters alike) to treat All animals HUMANELY -- In the specific case of "Bambi" also that hunters should Not shoot Does in the FAWNING season ... And for tear-jerker books, the biography of Modoc the Elephant would even break the heart of a "heartless" person

That was SUCH a great book! Well worth reading, IMHO.
A tearjerker, yes, but in a good way, I thought.

I'm not buying the part about Bambi. Bambi is based on Austrian novel that was not a children's story. It was political, anti-hunting propaganda, and was even banned in Germany as they thought it was a satirical reference to the plight of Jews in Europe. IMO, Disney added a couple of cutesy sidekick forest animals to make it a children's movie so that they could make bucks at the box office.

The original Austrian book from which Disney adapted his film was before my time, Dwayne, and it has remained virtually UNKNOWN to American children ever since then -- I am speaking ONLY of the Animated Film version of this story & how it has been utilized for 75 years in this country to teach children NOT to KILL lactating game in my experience ... I don't happen to be a hunter myself, but the few of them whom I know personally, all abide by that General Rule

Absolutely, yes, BUT to me The Art of Racing in the Rain was also uplifting. I was not at all sorry that I read it.
