I always thought my dogs feet smelled like popcorn!!!I guess a slight variation on the chip feet!
Hey Deanna, I used to groom once upon a life time ago too.....I saw some very stinky dogs in those days, I think some people forgot that they had a dog in the house.Every day I would have at least one or more strip that would be matted down to the skin!Lhasa's or Shitzsu's or Poodle's that would need to be shorn like a sheep w/ a ten or 15 blade!!I used to feel so bad for the poor things..one had so much hair matted on his face that he had bad infections in both eyes and I had to tell the owner to take the dog to the vet to be anestitized(spelling?)so that the hair around the eyes could be removed and the pus oozing from the eyes could be cleaned up
Dobe, if your dog has no skin infections and just has a body odor that you don't like , you may just have to get used to it!!! Unless you want to bathe or cologne him often! As was said already, some dogs are just very aromatic!!
No one ever said life was supposed to be easy, life is what you make of it!!
Only thing I can say about dog smells is when the Captain wanted to ride with me one night, cause he had never ridden with a Canine Trooper. when he got into the car, he said, wow, what about the smell, I told him no problem, the dog would get used to it. wonder why he never rode with me again????hmm oh well. Finger tips firmly against the grain of the hair breaks lose dead skin, dirt, and releases the natural oils in a dogs skin. A light brushing, with the grain, and then rub with the grain to distribute the natural oils your finger tips brought to the surface. Done regularly, he'll smell like a........ well I guess he'll smell like a clean dog. probably not a better bonding procedure either.

Any behavior that is reinforced is more likely to occur again.
Dfrost, that's funny! Dog will get used to it.... Harrrr hahahahar
I'm with the All natural diet people here, want a dog that smells good, feed raw food! Thet are what they eat... teeth, gums, coat all nice I just gave my dog a bath today for the first time ever... 10 months old, and that was just because he went swimmign in salt water yesterday on my trip and I could not give a fresh water rinse.
I always thought his feet smelled more like Cheesy's myself.
