Mike,
This is pretty much a working dog forum. Most of the threads concern working lines or problem solving.
People ask for opinions - other people post their opinions because they're *asked* to. That's how a forum works. If you don't understand that, sorry.
My credentials are well documented all over this forum. Feel free to search the posts for them.
I recommend kennels that produce working dogs that I've seen personally in action. I don't go by scores ( as I mentioned ). Dogs that are of a lesser caliber than what I'd want as my patrol dog or work dog are considered sporting dogs.
The two kennels that I recommended produce hands down some of the toughest dogs available in the U.S. - and I've either owned dogs from those kennels, or seen them in action on a frequent basis at club or as an LEO.
If people asked about sporting dogs or show line dogs, my recommendations would be different, of course.
Folks can place their kennel links in their signature. But I'm pretty sure that actually placing dogs for sale in the forum ( except for the owner of the site in one specific section ) isn't allowed.
And my opinions about the sporting affiliations comes from 20 + years of belonging to many of them. I don't post about second hand items or gossip, I post about what I see first hand.
If I buy a Leerburg puppy then it is ok for me to post about upcoming litters? I know it is Ed's board, but it is also a working line German Shepherd board.
Brad - I have no idea!
I'm just a frequent poster here and I read the rules, but I'm not a mod or anything, so I honestly don't know.
I too, live in fear of the fierce Moderater VanCamp.
Ed does NOT allow people to post their upcoming litters on this webboard. It is intended to be a training board, not a sales arena. Even if you own a Leerbug dog you can not post your litters. If you own a Leerburg dog and have a website, he will gladly add you to his links library.
It is really a simple concept. The links in signatures should be enough.
And what? I am not fierce? Did I not show my true side when you met me Will?
But...but...Deanna, I've always considered you sweet and gentle...just like your dogs!
*ducks for cover*
Although you did play hide and seek with my favorite coat for a year!
Never lend Deanna items of warm clothing at seminars.....she promptly hides them!
I didn't borrow your coat... I borrowed a sweater, and I returned it!
Sheesh... lending out clothing like that, you would have thought we had the seminar in a COLD place or something... I go to FL in January and it snows for the first time in years.
Think about it: The seminar in Indiana had 95 + degrees of heat. The Tallahassee Seminar had the coldest temps that the region had seen in years. The New Mexico seminar resulted in an entire years worth of percipitation for that area to occur in *one* day.
The guy gives brillant seminars, but he's cursed. I'm expecting a volcanic eruption to occur while he's here with me.
What's wrong with 95*??? We train in that all the time...hell, I was at the park doing search under distraction drills with my male today, it was 90* with just over 50% humidity, and people & dogs everywhere. Was a great day! What's a real pain to work in (and laugh at people that are "dying" that aren't used to the "swampland heat") is when it gets over 110* and over 60-70% humidity, but we still do it...we just bring along more water and try to work near ponds.
