THere is only one problem with solving the feeding problem with Dixon (Big Black dog) Once i can do his pen then ill have to do the other 25!!!!
I have done my years as a stable cleaner for horses which is hard enough thank you! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
But realy, its not a bad idea, i should at least try - alternativly i could just send them away by themselves and put the kids to work, im good at whip cracking!!!Got to love teenagers!

From what I have gathered from both reading and chatting with different breeders, they RARELY make $$. I think it could be a great idea for say..a 'side-job' for the right person but I'd not rely on it as full time income right off the bat.
Side job???? You gotta be kidding me. Oh you mean income wise. Yeah, I agree. But, with the amount of dogs we are talking I currently work about 80-100 hours per week. The rest of my life I am on the computer fighting on the Leerburg board. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Of course then there is the occasional 'idiot' who feels the need to contact me privately to tell me what a 'small narrow minded man' I am from reading my posts. But hey, so be it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
So all told I think it is about 2.5 full-time jobs. I wouldn't work this hard for anyone else. And you know what, I love very minute of it. Even the 'idiots'.

I thought that I was the only one that got those e-mails. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I think that under the right conditions you can make a nice little stash of cash. Not to live on, but enough to continue to invest in your newer and better dogs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

That little stash of cash that you re-invest isn't really profit when you figure in the time you spend up half the night with a bitch because you can feel another puppy and the oxy ain't working. Or in the litter where you lost the bitch and had to bottle feed them all... every 3 hrs... when you get done with the last you have to start on the first again. Not to mention the vet bills, the paper towels, the time spent screening buyers, working on those fantastic webpages, getting puppies to the vet and airport on time, and just plain studying pedigrees and searching for the "perfect match"... yeah.. that little stash was hard earned.
And people wonder why I am not interested in breeding...

Butch ya flatter me... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
LA huh? The Bayou. Hmmm, nope not this time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Deanna I tell you you described alot of my last litter. We had the first pup on a Tuesday at 7:30 pm. 3 Oxy shots later and an emergency C-section on FRIDAY. Lots of vet bills. Lots of sleepless nights, lots of lots of lots of...
Again, I say I am having a blast. Stressful, sleepless blast. But a blast none the less.

Yes, I knew that the most technical job would be assigned to me! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Hell anybody can let the dogs bite them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> Right Mike. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

If you are going to raise pups without the bitch, you really need to learn to "tube" them. You only have to feed about half as often and you can get more in quicker. I would have never made it with the puppies and kittens we had to raise that way with out tubing them. It is just so much quicker you wouldn't believe it.

I know how to tube feed. I am not a fan of it. Most will go incredibly lazy and will no longer suck if you are able to locate a surrogate bitch.
