I think most everyone that feeds RAW would says its never too late. The advantages are seen in dogs much older than yours. I would say go for it.
I use this link when comparing dog foods (kibble) to better understand those ingredients...
I switched a male over at 7 yrs of age when canidae changed their formula and I had to take him to the vet for cortisone shots. Haven't had a problem with his allergies since.

Thanks for that dog food comparison link. Also, thanks for the advice on a different diet. I know very little about dog food, what's good what's not, I just usually do what my vet tells me.
