Maybe we should leave that type of legislation and decisions up to the people who are legitimately affected by it (police officers). If they say it's of great use to them and they don't want the registry scrapped, who am I (or anyone else) to argue against that?
100% agreed here... I am fully supportive of anything to protect our law enforcement. As for me, I'm really not affected by the gun registry since we don't own guns.

Thank you Yuko! My children have been reading the comments. My fourteen year old daughter and her friend went to school today, and I just had a phone call that in there Social class it was the topic of the day! I hope we all learn to respect others beliefs and learn from them. I will be sending your comments to school tomorrow so others will learn about what other Canadians have to say. You are amazing and I love reading about how you train you dog and I have taken your information and used it with my new pup.

Your founding fathers are long dead. You're going to take their words over the police officers who are actually around now and protecting your society?
Why not listen to those who are currently alive and working (risking their lives) to protect your society? There's nothing wrong with learning from previous mistakes and having laws evolve. Just because something was written or said hundreds of years ago, doesn't mean it's right.
Besides, this isn't an anti-gun legislation. It's just a registry that allows police officers to check if and how many guns are registered to a particular residence when they're on their way there. No one's being told they can't have guns, they're just expected to have them registered.
Haha, you're right about the off-topic-ness of this debate... but pit bull attack stories aren't exactly cheerful stuff, so I can understand people's reluctance to stick to the original topic

Wow, thank you Marcia!
Take my comments and advice for what they're worth though; I'm just a 22-year-old student who's only discovered this site/board and its training methods in the past year. Haven't had a whole lot of life (or dog training) experience yet, hehe

Yoko-
My comment wasn't about gun control or legislation. Just the fact that you didn't feel you had any right to question/argue against the legislation. However, I do feel that there are better ways than registration to address gun related crimes.
Our founding fathers based our gov't on principles and truths that have been largely forgotten by today's society. We could all stand a few history lessons.
No more POLITICS!!!!

YES, and the bunch of dead white guys crack is very insulting. In the end it is the individual who is responsible for his own protection and security. When we trade personal liberty and self sufficency for security and sustainence we become subjects.
There is an English saying, "When you accept the King's coin you are the King's man."

Perhaps we should register large dogs with the police, so they know who has them before they go to our house.
Where does it stop? Should I look forward to the police holding their guns aimed at me shouting for me to muzzle Jäger, because he's PPD trained and constitutes a weapon under Arizona law?
BTW: Great picture there Dennis, you are clearly a man of impeccable taste

For the record, I believe Marcia and Yoko are probably nice people who hate to see suffering, just like the rest of us.
The Dumb gun owner remark hit a raw nerve down here because as a gun owner I get blamed for crime/death statistics that are so manipulated they should out saying "Once-upon-a-time, ..."
It's like the guy who accused me of being a racist because Jäger is a GSD and the police used GSDs on protesters in Selma AL.
Dennis, you know that's me and Jäger (a.k.a. Goober) in your pic, right?
