I really don't want to do the raw diet. I have never been for that at all. To each his/her own so please don't bash me for that.
Hi Anna,
I am not bashing you for not wanting to try raw diet, but I am curious as to why you do not want to try it?
I was leary of the whole thing at first as well and it took a bit to get over it. But now that I have seen the great effects it has, I really like it.
I cannot find the post, but, Amber Morgan had a Corgi that had issues with sores all around the mouth area and after startinf raw diet, the issues went away and have never returned as far as I know.
The before and after pictures are wonderful to look at.

I thought about his food while at work today and have decided not to go with the Exclusive. I am going back to the California Natural like I had them all on before. Let me know what you think about the food your selves. Thanks

Not sure if Ed is aware, but the California Natural link goes to the Karma food site and not the CN site.....
Here is the CN site address (or one of them at least).....

It has no corn, just rice, at least it's not brewers rice. It's better than the PMI, they didn't list the % of carbs (probably scared to...). I think it's still too heavy on the grain. The carbs are 45.31%.

Ok, I went to the store after work. I bought Vitamin E, 400 IU, and Fish Oil with Omega-3 Fatty Acids 1000 mg. This is what you suggested below. So I give him 3 capsules in the morning and 3 at night of the Fish Oil? and then only 1 of the 400 IU Vitamin E? I also bought him Lamb and Rice California Natural and yogart to mix in. I am going to re shave his hot spots and put the Panalog on them, and then give him the Pred, and the Clavamox. Everything that I am doing SHOULD I hope calm these things down and make him stop itching and digging at them so much. Please message asap : - } Thanks
I would use 7 grams a day of the fish oil (7000 mg a day) and 200-400 IU of Vitamin E (preferably in the form of mixed tocopherols).

Won't have the money that my vet charges until Friday when I get paid. The stuff I got today is wayyy under what they would have charged me! I have an appointment for the 15th. I have that day off and will have the extra money then. Hoping all of this will calm it down before we actually go to the vet. I got home today and it looks like he left it alone all day : - } I did give him a medicated bath last night and started him on the antibiotic too again. I am going to re shave things and put the panalog on it. All of the meds and the panalog I got for free at work from our head med tech that has worked at our company for almost 26 years. She does actually know what she's talking about, and has helped me out before with issues like this.

I've been watching this thread for a few days and I just felt compelled share my experience with raw feeding. I realize, Anna that you said you weren't interested in raw feeding but my experience has been such that I just have to share.
I come from a "non-doggy" family. In other words, my parents appreciate and like dogs but really don't know that much about them. If it hadn't been for me we never would have had a dog as a kids. Anyway, we fed a breeder recommended kibble to my first dog, Jordon, all his life. He had a doggy odor (which Ibizans are NOT supposed to have), HORRIFIC breath, and periodontal disease. He also experienced about 3 really bad hot-spots. Now Ibizan's are a very short-haired breed so it was odd that he would get one. Especially one right atop his hip, not in a moist, dark place such as an armpit. When I moved out and got married I took Jordon with me and introduced him to raw foods. His odor disappeared and his teeth (after much scaling) never again developed the calcified tarter that he'd had for years. He lived another year and a half with me and my husband (he was 13 1/3 when I started him on raw) and was a MUCH happier and healthier dog until he left us at 15 years old.
Cito and Loki, our current dogs are both on raw diets. Cito (an Ibizan) literally does not smell like ANYTHING other than clean and healthy :-). His bed doesn't smell like dog, his teeth are shining white and his coat is incredibly healthy and shiny. Also, Ibizans have large perk ears and Jordon used to get terrible build-up that had to be cleaned out bi-weekly. Cito has none. His ears are sweet smelling and very clean.
Loki, our Lab-mix was of course on kibble when we adopted him from our county shelter. After being put on a raw diet he stopped shedding as much his distinct doggy smell disappeared and his teeth are incredible. Also, he has a very soft mouth and used to drool CONSTANTLY. After being switched to raw, no more drooling (except when my hubby is getting his dinner ready!)
I just really encourage you to take another look at the information here on Leerburg. I was feeding raw prior to finding Leerburg.com but the information Ed has posted was invaluable in helping me understand how to feed a balanced diet.
I hope Chaos feels better soon!!!
Cito!

Many of us can relate to the situation Anna, beleive me. Unless he has an adverse reaction to the antibiotics do not intererupt the cycle. And make sure your vet knows what you have him on. Because things can really get screwy when meds start getting mixed.
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.
