I am so sorry Keith...
But I gotta say, love your perseverance!
Good luck!
I made the terrible mistake of trying to figure a rough estimate of how much I've spent on dog related items over the last 8 years a few mintues ago, boy was that a dumb idea!

Astronomical, huh?
I'm a Realtor, so I just write off the gas/miles (130 mile each way, 2-3 times a week...) but it is hard to write off the time. Especially with a less-than-interested-in-dog husband and kids that just don't get it.
The rest of the financials... I don't even wanna think about it...
But a thought, for you. I have a couple of K9 guys that are interested in doing more with their dogs who are happy to meet up once a week or so. It is not a club by any stretch, but we are able to use each others equipment, and bounce ideas off each other and get some extra bodies that are needed for working dogs.
And I recently found a Mondioring guy that lives much closer than Anacapa (my SCH club) that is willing to do some more Schutzhund-y type stuff for me. He is a more experienced helper than the K9 guys, more technical.
Try looking to some of the ring type clubs that might be around and willing to cross train. You probably already looked, but it may be worth looking again.

Keith,
I'm up in Blacksburg. I am working on OB with my rescue dog now, but I am planning on getting a Mal for Schutzhund work later this year. Did you ever get a group of people together? If so I would love to stop by and see the club/meet people and see how it all works.

That would be a no. LOL
I'm still hoping to one day but then again I still believe in the Easter Bunny and the Great Pumpkin.

Keith, I'm looking for a Schutzhund club near Roanoke. I have my fourth GSD pup, Nina vom Alpenhof, and I live at Sinking Creek, Virginia about 40 minutes from Blacksburg, 45 minutes from Roanoke.

Arvid I'm located out by the Moneta/Hardy area...probably about 1 1/2 hours from you. Shoot me a pm with your number and I'll give you a ring.
