Sure,,go ahead and rub it in.
I'll throw this out....anyone that can obtain a license here in SD is more than welcome to take a trip out and hunt with us. Pick your poison and go for it people.
We have plenty of room, I love to cook and we love to take people out.
The only cost to anyone (besides traveling to get here, and your license) is hiding for one of my live find dogs at some point during your trip. If you cannot bring a weapon due to flying, we will have one here for you.

I agree, Janice, this is pretty cool hearing how everyone hunts in their neck 'O the woods.
Its also cool that everybody seems to lean more towards meat than trophy.
Don't get me wrong, if a big buck is standing beside a spike....well....which one do you think I'd shoot.
I still think that an animal taken for the table holds the place of highest honor.

That sounds more like a benefit than a cost, IMO.

I've gone hunting with my Dad since I was a kid. Now that I'm grown, I look forward to archery season here in TX, if for no other reason, than to spend lots of time with him.
I've not taken much game with my bow, but I have a tremendous amount of fun hanging out with family, sitting in the woods and watching them wake up around me, laughing at the cat squirrels, etc etc. I definitely enjoy the "hunting" more than the "killin".
Check out this link to my blog. I've posted some pics of a bow my Dad made, complete with real deer sinew binding, flint arrow heads, the whole bit!

Oh wow, Genie!
Do you hunt with a long bow?
I hope I can be good enough one day to lay down the compound and grab a recurve or a long bow.

I've hunted for years with a little Matthews compound that's about the sweetest-shooting thing I've ever seen. My Dad and brother-in-law were so impressed with my little 50#, they had to go out and get their own Matthews.
The bow Dad made that's pictured in my blog is based off the bow the Kiowa used. It probably pulls about 40# at my draw length; I plan on getting my hands on a bow scale and finding out for sure.
I am PUMPED about taking it hunting when bow season starts next month!

Not by chance an MQ1?
I've been shooting my MQ1 since '98. I say that long, I did take a hiatus for a few years.
Your dad is quite the craftsman.

My brother-in-law had a MQ1, but last year got a Switchback.
I shoot an UltraLight. My first bow was a Bear GameGetter II. In practice, I could thread a needle with it, but in hunting conditions, I always missed waaaay left. It finally occurred to us that while I'm right-handed, I'm left eye dominant. In the heat of the moment, I'd aim with the wrong eye!
So, I got a Jennings Whitetail Hunter, LH. This was back before peep sights. I did not like that bow; never got good penetration and lost some deer because of it.
Then, we found a guy that had bought an UltraLight RH with ALL the gear for his wife, who shot it only once. He sold it to me for cheap. I've been hunting with it ever since, and LOVE it.
While I have played around with "stick bows", this is the first year I will hunt with one.

Hi Gene,
My first bow was a Gamegetter II as well. Got it back in 87. Only a 50% letoff though. I set it at 60#. I have a Proline now set at 65#. I use a Keller pendulem sight after shooting instinct for 15 years.
One of my hunting partners is part Blackfoot indian. He makes his own bows as well. He backs them with rattlesnake skin and sinew from deer he's killed. Makes his own arrows out of river cane and naps his own arrow heads out of flint and uses turkey feathers. He's killed deer with it so now he's making his own spear to hunt with. He made a beatifull spear point out of tiger flint that weighs about8 ounces, it oughta put a whoopin on those hogs.
