i'm assuming i'll need to repackage the meat anyways.
Yes. If you do this assembly-line style, it's easy.

... My 18kg lasts us 5-6 weeks. So you'd be lucky to get 2 weeks out the same for 3 dogs.
Oh gosh. Two weeks would be heavenly for me!
I can go 8 days now.
Connie, that's around my current limit as well. I was hoping my Grocery Gateway order that came this morning would last a couple of weeks, why I thought that I don't know, it won't
Ron, you've got a couple of big dogs, right? Glad to hear the 5 cubic feet is a good size for you.

Shabbado is around 75 lbs and Lynch is around 35 so he eats about half what Shabba does. 5 is a great size for us. Chicken carcasses make perfect dinner meals. 2 for Shabba and 1 for Lynch! It's that easy.

thanks melissa
i contacted the first one already and no response.
though, i'm thinking, both luc and teagan are small GSDs (luc between 50-55lbs, more around 55lbs, teagan probably just under 60lbs), and then the little midget is about 17lbs, so a freezer bigger than the first listing is preferable. b/c of luc's activity level, he eats around 5-7% of his body weight at times.
the second one, even though he posted in toronto, is actually in london, and i'm not driving to london to get a freezer (with much love to london)!!! (the last time i drove to london it was scarring....it took me seriously 2 hours and 45 minutes just to get to hamilton leaving from downtown toronto 5 minutes from the gardiner, by the time i got to hamilton i was contemplating mass murder. anyways, while unfair to london, which is a nice town and all, all i can think is 'no freezer is worth that drive!')
eta: plus, i gave toby the dimensions of the 5 ft freezer, and it will fit in his golf (and can go in). so i don't have to use a pick-up from zipcar, pick-ups are more expensive than using the smaller zipcars (though no gas on the bright side). i'd probably pay at least $70 in zipcar fees for the amount of time i'd need to go to london, back to my house, and then drive to the drop-off. there's a zipcar spot 5 minutes away by subway, but it doesn't have trucks.

Jennifer, in our family my wife does the grocery shopping. She shops at Albertson's, Fred Meyer, and Costco. She tracks prices at each and organizes her shopping lists by store. Some time ago she decided that Costco was the best deal for beef. Just about all the beef she buys comes from Costco. I'm not sure about chicken.
We have the Costco Executive membership and between the yearly rebate and Costco prices it is worth it to us.
I can't remember if you are married or not. Here is a money saving tip my wife came up with: Don't take your husband to Costco with you. You save a lot of money by leaving the husband at home.

C'mon Jenn! Everyone knows the ride from Toronto to Hamilton is WAY easier than the ride from Hamilton to Toronto! I have a new co-worker coming in from Toronto (driving) and she leaves at 7:10am and gets to West Hamilton/Dundas by 8am. I don't know how she does it.
